• Hi Vipps Support,

We’ve come across an issue with subscriptions through Vipps Checkout and need your help to clarify whether this is a known limitation or a configuration issue on our side.

When a customer selects a subscription product and proceeds through Vipps Checkout, they are still able to choose Klarna as the payment method. The checkout goes through, and they receive the discounted price (which is only intended for subscriptions), but no actual subscription is created in WooCommerce.

Is this expected behavior? Or is there something we’re missing in the setup?

We want to understand how we can prevent this — ideally, Klarna should either not be available for subscription purchases, or subscriptions should be correctly registered regardless of payment method.

    Looking forward to your input!

    Hi,

Are you using WooCommerce Subscriptions? I see that when I add a subscription product to my cart on your website, I am still redirected to the Vipps Checkout page that is intended for one-off purchases instead of the subscriptions based Checkout page.

What kind of product type is your subscriptions set to?

    Hi Marcus,

Yes, we are using WooCommerce Subscriptions.

I thought the latest update of the plugin supported subscriptions through Vipps Checkout? (Ref: https://share.cleanshot.com/bykKgYz8)

Currently, customers who choose a subscription product are still redirected to the regular Vipps Checkout, not the subscription-enabled version. What do we need to adjust to make sure subscription products are handled correctly and that Klarna isn’t shown as an option for those?

Appreciate your guidance on how to fix this.

We use “All Products for WooCommerce Subscriptions” plugin, so the products are normal variable products with the option to add a subscription.

    (@marcuz2k2k)

The plugin does support subscriptions through Vipps Checkout, but the Checkout pages for subscriptions and one off payments are not the same (they are different APIs at Vipps).

What I think is happening here is that the subscriptions part of the plugin does not work well with «All Products for WooCommerce Subscriptions» anymore, and thus disables itself as a payment option. I have not tested the compatibility for this in a while.

I’ll have a look on Tuesday to see if I can reproduce the issue, and subsequently fix it.

    Hey,

I’ve now ran some tests and I did find an issue with the compatibility for All Products for Woo Subscriptions, however, if this issue is what you ran in to I would expect an error to be thrown on your page. As far as I can see what seems to happen for you is that the normal WooCommerce checkout for regular payments is reached instead of Vipps Checkout.

Are you able to give me a few more details about your product and setup? What I’m looking for is:

    1. Woo Subscriptions version
    2. WooCommerce version
    3. All Products for Woo Subscriptions version
    4. Are you using a global subscription plan for the product in question?
    5. Is Checkout activated in the recurring settings of this plugin? This setting exists separately for regular payments and subscription payments.

Looking forward to your reply! 🙂

    Hey,

I’m investigating a possible issue here – it seems like Vipps Checkout from the part of the plugin that deals with regular products is not aware of the existence of All Products for Subscriptions, and thus doesn’t let the recurring logic do it’s thing.

I’ll get back to you once I’ve tested this properly.

    (@marcuz2k2k)

This should be fixed in the next version of the plugin – if you want to test it before a new version is released (possibly on Monday) you can download the latest version of the plugin here: https://github.com/vippsas/vipps-woocommerce/archive/refs/heads/master.zip

By the way, you can safely deactivate and uninstall “Vipps/MobilePay faste betalinger for WooCommerce”.

    Thank you Marcus!

Now when I activate the recurring Vipps checkout I get this error: https://share.cleanshot.com/l3j1JvZ5
Do you know what could be wrong?

    Hi,

Are you running the latest version of the plugin? (4.1.6)

If so, does it work without Checkout now?

    Thread Starter aleksanderk

    (@aleksanderk)

Yes, it works after updating to 4.1.6. Thank you! 🙂

Now it redirects to the normal WooCommerce checkout, but I would love to activate this the Vipps MobilePay checkout for recurring payments. See here: https://share.cleanshot.com/by1bVj2d

    (@marcuz2k2k)

Thank you. Can you enable “debug log messages” in the recurring settings and then enable Checkout again? If you go to the Checkout to trigger the error you should then be able to see why there is an error in the log file.

You can find the log file in WooCommerce -> Status -> Logs and look for “woocommerce-gateway-vipps-mobilepay-recurring”. It should be the latest one.

Please email this log to me so I can have a look. Send it to marcus.dahl@everyday.no.
