Problem with Incoming Links, Aksimet, Upgrading wordpress and other stuff….

    Hi,
    My problems :
    1) In my dashboard all the boxes including “Incoming Links”, “WordPress developement blog”, and “Other WordPress News” don’t show anything but : (RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: 1: Operation not permitted
    )

    2) I can’t activate aksimet completely because it says (Akismet has detected a problem. A server or network problem is preventing Akismet from working correctly)
    The problems seems to be (Unable to reach some Akismet servers)

    3) I can’t upgrade wordpress automatically, althought there is a new version, it always says that (YOU DONT NEED TO UPGRADE)

    4) Also I cant search for plugins from the WordPress Admin

    5) I also have problem with some other plugins like sexybookmarks saying (An Unexpected HTTP Error occurred during the API request) when I click on the configuration tab.

    Althought these problems may sound different but I guess they are caused by the same thing.

    So, if you can help I will be grateful…

    Hello,

    Actually, I have the same problem on many of my sites with WordPress installed. This isnt an issue with our server, it’s an issue with the
    wordpress site it appears, it’s not accepting connectings from our
    box. You’d need to contact them about this, but since since I don’t know how I thought posting on this forum could help us both;

    If someone from Worpress can look into this important issue that prevents updating our sites and stop spam (etc..)

    Hello,
    Many Wpmu users are having the same issues.
    All our websites based on wpmu have the same problem as described above in your post.
    Even on a new server: Unable to update plugins, unable to update Wpmu from 2.7.x to 2.8.7a.
    I have installed yesterday from scratch the wpmu version 2.8.7a: just new without any plugin: Unable to install!
    An Unexpected HTTP Error occurred during the API request.
    Try again

    Dasboard side:
    WordPress development Blog: Rss Error: Wp HTTP Error: name lookup timed out
    Other WordPress news: RSS Error:name lookup timed out.
    A quick search in google: An Unexpected HTTP Error occurred during the API request.

    Any solution is welcome, thanks.

    I’m using the current version 2.8.4. I also have the same problems just now.

    1. Akismet is not working. It says, Unable to find Akismet servers.

    2. My Google XML Sitemap is not working so I deleted it to reinstall and when I was about to install a new one, the search function gives the result “An Unexpected HTTP Error occurred during the API request.”

    3.The incoming links, wordpress dev blog, etc in the dashboard is giving the error RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: Couldn’t resolve host

    What is wrong with wordpress?

    When is this going to be fixed? I have been experiencing these issues for a week now. Running WP 2.8.4 and akismet 2.2.6. Very annoying. None of the external connections seem to be working.

    I was having the same (or similar) problem – all pages in my dashboard gave the message “An Unexpected HTTP Error occurred during the API request”. It was solved for me by clearing my browser’s cache. Back to normal now. So try that first.

    I have same problem. I have facing “WP HTTP Error 200: Operation timed out after 3 seconds with 0 out of 1744 bytes received.” I am running my WP on WAMP server. I have no idea how to sort out my this problem.

    Same deal here after upgrading to 3.0. Have tried a bunch of suggestions; now Akimet seems to be working, but the feeds are still showing the ‘couldn’t resolve host’ error for wordpress.org feeds. Hmm.

    Don’t understand the volvoxsoft’s suggestion either. Not that smart ;); how do you reset/reconfigure DNS at server?? I’m not sure that’s the problem anyway.
