Problem with Go Live from sub directory

  • Hi All

    I built my WP site in a sub directory (/rapid). When it was complete, I tried following these directions: http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory (see section titled “Using a pre-existing sub directory install”).

    The process fails at step 6. When I try to login to http://mysite.com/rapid/wp-admin I get a 404 error. Same for the home page. So I have no way to change my permalinks (step 7).

    I have the .htaccess file from /rapid copied to the root directory. Same for the index.php file and have changed to require(‘./rapid/wp-blog-header.php’);

    How can I get my web site to work from here?

  • …Further to the above, when I try to login at http://www.mysite.com/rapid/wp-login I get this message:

    The page isn’t redirecting properly.

    Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

    This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.
