problem with Genesis layout after 4.7 wp update

    after wp 4.7.1 update, site layout is now backwards: sidebar/content instead of content/sidebar. Plus sidebar widgets don’t have usual border around them, bleed into main content area. Under Customize, layout bar is blank.

    Since you’re using a commercial theme we recommend you go to their official support channel so you can get support from the people who know it best.

    Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know about the theme functionality or configuration. The vendors are the best option for support of commercial products.

    I had already done that, and just heard their reply. I didn’t have the ‘update’ button checked in Genesis in my dashboard, and therefore was not aware that this theme needed updating before I updated to WP 4.7. 4.7 needs 2.4.2 version of Genesis to work properly. I checked the button, got the update, all is well. Sure wish I could have found this very simple info somewhere hours and hours ago. Thanks for your help. Hopefully this post can help someone else in future.

    The same thing happened to me on upgrade of WP from 4.6.3 to 4.7.2 . Needed to upgrade Genesis to 2.4.2 by clicking the “Check for Updates” button under Dashboard->Genesis->Theme Settings . The child theme did not need to be updated (Lifestyle Pro)

    My Genesis theme is quite old and beyond an easy update. I also use a ‘child theme’ within, so if any future WP upgrades messes up Genesis, guess what: No more WP upgrades thank you very much. The last update messed up the sidebars and I reset the update back to what it was. Less work for me going forward
