    Hi!
I’ve used Ninjafirewall on many sites with great success, but I’ve run into a site where I’m having a problem.

I’ve installed Ninjafirewall and it’s up and running just fine. However, whenever I try to run the File Check Snapshot, it runs and eventually I get an “Internal Server Error” message.

I’m wondering if it might be some sort of timeout problem as it’s a blog site that has been up since 2010 and has close to 200K files all told. It’s on a MediaTemple Gridhosting account – I don’t know if that would be a factor or not… I’m not very familiar with them.

I hope you can help me suss this out!

    Hi,

Can you download and check your HTTP server error log? It should be written why it returned a 500 internal server error.

    Hi,
In the error log I get…

[Fri Oct 07 16:15:28 2016] [error] [client xx.xxx.x.xxx] Premature end of script headers: php-latest, referer: http://www.sitename-obscured.net/wp-admin/admin.php?page=nfsubfilecheck

    If it helps…
    Apache: 2.2.22
    MySQL: 5.1.66
    PHP: 5.5.6

    Thanks!

Did you check your PHP max_execution_time value? Maybe you would need to increase it a bit?

I’ve tried pushing the max_execution_time up to 600, but it still croaks at the same point.

I did just find the following on a faq for MediaTemple grid hosting…

The following limits are in place for all PHP and CGI processes on your website(s):

    120 seconds of CPU time
    99MB of RAM usage
    36 processes per node

Any attempt to exceed these limits will result in a “500 Server Error.”

    Therin lies the problem perhaps?

When Ninjafirewall attempts to take a snapshot and the process dies as it’s been doing, does it retain the partial snapshot and then the next time add to what was previously taken?

Guess I’m wondering if I keep taking snapshots… Will they eventually add up to a full snapshot?

It does not take a partial snapshot because that would not be reliable (it could miss some files).
How many CPU resources are available on your system?
120 seconds should be more than enough. For instance, on a small dual-core server, it should not take more than a few seconds to create a snapshot of 200k files.
