Now I see… This is not actually caused by TablePress or the loss of any“ Custom CSS”. This is caused by the new “Emoji” feature in WordPress 4.2 (see [https://wordpress.org/news/2015/04/powell/](https://wordpress.org/news/2015/04/powell/)). That feature will turn all special characters (like those checkmarks that you are using) into small images. (You can see this when inspecting the new icons with the debug tools in your browser.) Unfortunately, that images is only in gray and can not be changed easily.
