Have you tried the latest version of CKEditor for WordPress? There was a fix for that kind of issue after WP 4 release.

I am getting the same problem. I installed the CKEditor version 4.4.5 after the WP upgrade (4.1.1) problem experienced with default editor. It has not worked with most of the departments that I am managing. It has worked in only one department site..I checked the settings and they are similar.
Opening with Chrome I get this error message on console

Uncaught TypeError: undefined is not a function
    load-scripts.php?c=0&load[]=hoverIntent,common,admin-bar,heartbeat,autosave,suggest,wp-ajax-respons…:867

    Kindly assist.

We have quite a similar problem here (4.4.5/4.1.1). The CKEditor toolbars show up after quite some time of loading, maybe 1-2 minutes. And loading is taking a lot of processor resources. So, our take is a javascript/ajax error or misconfiguration.

After the toolbar shows up, we’re able editing pages as usual for maybe an hour or so. During this timespan we’re even able to log out, close the browser, emtpy the browser cache, login and edit again hassle-free.
    Thereafter, the conundrum repeats …

    additional observation:

The 4.4.4/4.0.1 combination was quite fine. The problems startet after CKEditor was updated (4.4.5).

My hosting service automatically upgraded WordPress to 4.1.1 and CKEditor disappeared. Is there a fix anticipated? I have 4.4.5 installed.

I figured out what happened. My bad! I forgot to uncheck the “use default editor” box. 🙁

Could you try the newest (4.5.3.3) version?
