A user who paid for a membership was able to visit a restricted page (to make posts) but for some reason they lost the “author” role somehow. I see they updated there credit card. could this have caused there account to lost the “Author” role?

I had to manually cancel there membership and manually choose the membership level for them, then the author role appeared again.

Because this happened they were unable to access the post page.

Any idea what could cause this issue?

Im confused because i have “author” set under membership level settings.

so i dont understand how they can all of a sudden not be an author and a few days of being a member. (They had no issues “posting” for a few days)

I need to figure this out before it happens again and causes conflict with receiving more orders.

They still had PRO membership which i require to visit the post page. But when trying to click the post page, its redirecting them to upgrade their level (even tho they are already upgraded)

This is due to user losing author role somehow. So trying to figure out what could have caused the “Author” role to disappear. It makes no sense.

I notice this happened to some of my test accounts as well. They no longer have the “Author” role assigned but still have the PRO levels. So im not sure its related to user updating his credit card info.

Hi @sueyrad, thank you for reaching out to Paid Memberships Pro.

A change of role won’t affect the access/visibility of access to content on your site as we grant/deny access to content based on a membership level that gets assigned to a user account.

Please send me Site Health Information from the affected site so that I can get a better understanding of what you are running and can take a further look into this for you.

Please follow the steps below to retrieve your Site Health Info in the WordPress admin and reply back to us when the details have been added:

    1. Navigate to Tools > Site Health in the WordPress admin.

    3. Click the button to “Copy site info to clipboard”.

The entire output of your Site Health is now copied to your clipboard.

For some reason user has to have “author” role enabled alongside a PRO membership level to visit the “Submit post” page. and there is something that is making it (author role) vanish from some users. ( like the paying user who was able to post for a day before losing author role somehow )

I have to have “restrict access” plugin enabled alongside yours to make this work as PMP wasnt working by itself. That was said in previous thread a few weeks back

Everything was fine until i noticed “Author” role had disapeard from the paying member and he was unable to post. I can sign up with a new user and assign a pro membership level and it sets “author” with no issues. but something down the line caused it to disappear on a few accounts.
