 * I am helping out a relative who has a website already up and running. She had
   someone professionally make a website for her, but the guy never completely finished
   importing all of the information she wanted. I.E the website says “insert slogan/
   message here” I have her login so I am able to edit the different tabs of the
   website and what not; however, I do not think that I am on the administrate account.
   I am very limited with what I am able to do. She cannot get in contact with the
   person who set the website up. What can I do to recover the admin login so I
   can make the necessary changes that I want to?
 * Thanks

 * The [WordPress Codex](http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password) has
   a number of ways to reset an admin password and/or username.

 * I have no information on the administrator username or password. I also do not
   have that much experience with coding so that’s a foreign language to me.

 * You don’t have to have the information on the administrator username or password.
   In fact, you’ll be able to see it if you use the phpMyAdmin method.
 * Basically.. you’re going to need access to either the database where the website
   is being stored… or the file directories where the website was created.
 * Each method on the link I gave above is different.
 * 1) If you have access to the cPanel of the website; use the [phpMyAdmin](http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password#Through_phpMyAdmin)
   method.
 * 2) If you have an FTP account on the website, use the [FTP](http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password#Through_FTP)
   method.
 * If you do not have access to an FTP account for the website; or the cPanel where
   the site is hosted… then you can’t reset the admin username or password. I would
   suggest having your relative contact the hosting provider to get those credentials.
