• Hi,

I recently switched hosts from the free lifelesspeople.com to A Small Orange and have a few databases that need to be transferred over. First and foremost is my wordpress install. The site can be located at zoogies.net/blog

Following procedure as outlined in the Codex, I downloaded the entire /blog/ folder from my old server and uploaded it to the new one. I then made a database called zoogies_wp1 (the same name as before) and made a new user with the same name and password, etc.

I went into phpMyAdmin to restore the database I had downloaded through it last night and got this:

#1064 – You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=10’ at line 10

What’s up with that? I’ve tried many other things – downloading and then uploading a mysql backup through the cPanel backup feature, no luck. Making a fresh install of wordpress and trying it via the backup plugin – it said ‘successful’ but did nothing. I really want to get this up and running asap. help, anyone?

–trying to access zoogies.net/blog now yields:

We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the zoogies_wp1 database.

    * Are you sure it exists?
    * On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_wordpress. Could that be the problem?
