    Hi
I have never installed a widget before, so am probably doing something incredibly stupid!

I have downloaded the rotating tweets app and added the widget to the website. However, I am getting the following error messages:

    – Problem retrieving data from Twitter
    – Please check the Twitter name in the widget or shortcode, Rotating Tweets settings or the Twitter API status.
    – Twitter error code: 215 – Bad Authentication data

I am not really sure where I should be checking the twitter name, I have looked at the settings in application.
    In settings under:
    – Name, it would not accept the twitter name or rotating tweets so I put in ‘500 word per day tweets’ which it accepted.
    – Description – again not sure what to put in, so put in ‘twitter feed’
I am assuming that it is here I am probably doing something wrong.

In your instructions, you say copy the ‘consumer’ information to the settings page, but there is nowhere to copy these across to.
    Help please. Thank you.

That sounds like a problem with the authentication data on the settings page.

If you go to the Dashboard/Settings/Rotating Tweets page, have you successfully entered all the ‘Twitter API Settings’ data – specifically the:

    • Twitter API Consumer Key
    • Twitter API Consumer Secret
    • Twitter API Access Token
    • Twitter API Access Token Secret

    Hi Martin
Thank you for your prompt response.
I assume that you are referring to the Twitter Apps Dashboard Setting page – is that correct? But I can’t see a ‘Rotating Tweets page’.

    Under settings I have:
    Name: 500wordsperday1
    Description: Rotating tweets
    Website: http://500wordsperday.com/
Next page is Keys and Access Tokens and the information that you refer to is there.

Am I looking in the right place?

Or should I be putting this information into the webpage?

Sorry, I am obviously being very thick about this.

Thank you for all your help.

    Cheers,

    Tereza

    Hi Martin

Being thick – all sorted now. I hadn’t copied the information to the website settings – doh!

    Thank you.

    Cheers,
