I am trying to post my own header image in a Salmon theme and it just shows a broken link where the banner should be. I added the img info to the header.php like this:

    <h1>” title=”<?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?>”><img src=”<?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?>/images/ebilink.jpg” alt=”East Bay Insomniac”></h1>

And I uploaded the image to /var/www/html/images/ and also /var/www/html/wordpress/wp-content/themes/salmon-10/images/

Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong? Thanks!

P.S. A separate smaller question: No matter what image alignment option I choose from the pulldown menu, I can’t get the image to just be above the text in my post. How can I make it so the image is above the text, not left of it or wrapped?

do you NOT have a public_html or similar in your home/whoyouare ?

/var/WWW is usually a symlink to another directory, used for the server.

In home/whoiam, I have mainwebsite_html. I put the image there, and I put it in the images folder that’s in there too, but it is still showing up broken. Where do you recommend uploading the images to, and how should you code the link to them?

    ok, well, after looking, this:

    <img src=”<?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?>/images/ebilink.jpg”

    does not equal this:

Does mainwebsite_html have a wordpress install inside of it?

    Yeah, it goes mainwebsite_html>wordpress>wp-content>themes>salmon-10/images

The ftp address for that is: /var/www/html/wordpress/wp-content/themes/salmon-10/images/

The ebilink.jpg image is in that directory. How would you do the code to equal it? Do I have to put all images in that theme directory? Thanks.

sigh .. this is a colocated box, right?

Thats what I am trying to tell you..

var/WWW is a symlink. Its used by Apache.

    ls -la /var/WWW

At any rate, JUST do this:

    <img src="" ..>

You dont need to use php to put that there, and im not going through the codex to find it..

then youve solved 1 problem atleast.

Re: “colocated box”: I had the WordPress Install4Free team install WordPress on my site which is hosted by Doteasy–fairly cheap hosting, nothing fancy or networked. This is my first site, so I do appreciate the help, but if my question seems to be inconveniencing you, I guess don’t answer it.

Anyway, if not in Header.php, WHERE do you want me to put that code? I tried adding it to header.php, just as you have above, and the image is still broken, and now the layout is too.

    edit this, inside header.php

    <h1>title="<?php bloginfo('name'); ?>"><img src="<?php bloginfo('name'); ?>/images/ebilink.jpg" alt="East Bay Insomniac"></h1>

    Make it this:

    <h1>title="<?php bloginfo('name'); ?>"><img src="" alt="East Bay Insomniac"></h1>

make sure that image is where it needs to be.

There look to be a stray quote in your very first paste ..

    <h1>" <------- that quote

I got it! Thanks a lot, I really appreciate your patience and help on this. If I may press my luck with part 2 of the original post…in Write Post, how can I align the image ON TOP of the text? I just want the text to be UNDER the image, as opposed to wrapped around it. Is there a text-align function?

🙂 I cant help you with that 1, I dont use the Rich Text Editor.. so its all CSS for me.

OK thanks for the other bit.
