• I’m currently installing a copy of WP for a client using GoDaddy for hosting and I’ve got everything copied over and the wp-config file has all the right info but it’s just not showing up. When I go to admin/install.php I get this error message:

Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL which is required for WordPress.

I’ve installed WP on GD before so I don’t understand why there is this dilemma.

Dedicated server? This message indicates that the installation of PHP doesn’t have the mysql extension installed or turned on. Usually it’s a simple fix by editing the PHP.INI file.

I’ve never edited a PHP.INI. How do you accomplish that?

Well, usually you speak to your hosting provider and let them do it.

I’ve spent hours on your support forums and found lots of people asking the same questions I have. You guys only state the obvious. I’m sorry to say, but you guys are worthless.

Edit the php.ini. Is it too much trouble to show a bit of code so anyone can find what you’re talking about?

I see no answers! Just condescending statements, like “Let the Host provider do it”. In case you guys didn’t notice, most of us are trying to run this stuff ourselves.

PHP, MySQL, and WordPress on IIS Windows 2003 server, all have to work together, but MAN! They are so……

I’m about to give up. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

In that case you should have the necessary knowledge to do it.
We do not support server setup issues. Your problem is NOT a WP issue, it is about setting up a server. Seek advice in a specialized forum.

And stop personal attacks – they will be deleted/moderated!
