I’ve got a client running WP v.2.6.1 and I want I’m having trouble getting WPAU to work. I have installed WPAU a couple of times before and have not had this problem.

I can’t get past the screen where it asks for the FTP info. No matter what I type in as the base path I get a message saying that WP could not write to that folder. It *should* be /httpdocs/wordpress but that doesn’t work. I also tried to CHMOD the permissions for the wordpress folder to 777 but that did not help.

Any ideas? I don’t see any install docs on the plugin homepage.

I upgraded Akismet while I was in there and had to enter FTP credentials to do that, and it worked fine. I also have it entered into WS_FTP and that works fine as well. So, I know I have the correct login info.

    Thanks

Correction. If I use the path /httpdocs/wordpress the exact error message I get is below. I changed the domain name to XXX.com for security. Judging by this I’d say I have the right path but there is a permission problem (maybe)…

Warning: fopen(/usr/local/4admin/apache/vhosts/XXX.com/httpdocs/wordpress/wpau-backup/index.html) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /usr/local/4admin/apache/vhosts/XXX.com/httpdocs/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/wpau_helper.class.php on line 79

I tried changing the folder permissions to 777 and running the module, which did not work. Then I FTP’d an empty index.html file to the wpau_backup folder, which helped.

Now I keep getting a message saying:

click here to run the clean up process before continuing

When I click that, I get a very quick message saying that permission was denied in wpau_upgrade.class.php and I get sent back to the screen prompting me to clean up.

    p.s…

[Table ‘./bbpress/bb_users’ is marked as crashed and should be repaired]

on the techie buzz forum. I tried to register but got error messages and my login info was not emailed to me.
