    Hi guys,

Just tried to update a few plugins and received the following error:

W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home/content/74/12109974/html/mysite/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.

Tried to reinstall via the WP dashboard, but the search just hangs and cannot seem to find the plugin.

Tried to manually install from a download but receive the following:

Installing Plugin from uploaded file: w3-total-cache.0.9.5.11.zip
    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the plugin…

    Destination folder already exists. /home/content/74/12109974/html/mysite/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/

    Plugin install failed.

I’m also receiving the following on some pages:

W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home/content/74/12109974/html/mysite/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/74/12109974/html/mysite/wp-content/advanced-cache.php:26) in /home/content/74/12109974/html/mysite/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1174

Not sure how to remove the .php file and would appreciate some guidance on how to resolve this as it has taken my site down and placed it in “Scheduled Maintenance” mode. Btw, I have removed the .maintenance file to no avail.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello @wpdcb1973

Go to /wp-content/plugins/ and delete w3-total-cache folder. Then go to /wp-content/ folder and delete advanced-cache.php, cache folder and w3tc-config folder. Now open your wp-config.php file and remove cache related code – should be one or two line at the top. And finally, use default .htaccess code or remove cache related code from your current htaccess. This is how W3TC will be completely removed.

Now, download the zip and install the plugin again, manually. It will be installed now.

    Have a good day!

    Cheers
    Ash
