    Hello,

I recently “redesign” my website and since I cannt use Google Site Kit.

I have two different erreur message :

1/ The first one appear on the WordPress Dashboard before connection my Google accoiunt to Site Kit “Your site may not be ready for Site Kit: Looks like Site Kit is unable to place or detect tags on your site”

2/ The second one appear after clicking on “Sign in with Google”. I am redirected to a page with this error message : “La requête envoyée au proxy d’authentification a échoué avec une erreur : a site with the given URL already exists.”

I already read the help page of Site Kit and I cannot restore the old version of my website.

Please, can someone assist me to find a solution for my website ?

    Thanks in advance, Adrien

Thanks for reaching out @madonna23. Given you’re not able to restore the older version of your site, please share the following and we can provide you with the most suitable troubleshooting steps to ensure you can complete setup:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. What is the URL you land back on when attempting setup? I ask as this may contain a no longer valid callback URL, based on your previous site.

Once we have this information, we can advise on this further. One troubleshooting step we may suggest, is to add a www prefix to both your site address and your WordPress address, in order for Site Kit to suggest your set up the plugin once more, recognizing this as a new site.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Hi James,

Thanks for your answer. I have filled the form for sharing the Site Health Information.

Also, this is the link that you request : https://fillercosme.com/wp-admin/index.php?action=googlesitekit_proxy_setup_start&nonce=2611fe8bd4

And finally, can you explain me where to add this “www” before my domain name please ?

    Thanks

Thanks for the update @madonna23. It looks like there is no site URL in the callback. In that case, and to answer your query regarding the www prefix, see steps below:

    1. Visit your WordPress general settings page (Settings > General)
    2. Temporarily switch both your “WordPress Address (URL)” and “Site Address (URL)” to https://www.fillercosme.com.com (with the www prefix)
    3. Log back into your site if requested
    4. Attempt to set up Site Kit once more

Let me know how you get on with these steps, or ask if you have any questions. I can’t guarantee you will be able to complete setup, in particular as you were also facing a “Looks like Site Kit is unable to place or detect tags on your site” error, but do let me know of your experience after performing the above.

Hello James, sorry for the delay of answer.

I have done what you preconize and added “www” to my url. Nothing change. I still have the two same issues as in my first request.

What can I do now please ?

    Thanks,

    Adrien

Sorry to hear that @madonna23. In that case, I’ll check your site with the team and see if they spot anything unusual. If it’s a case that they can find your site records on the Site Kit service, they can hopefully invalidate them so you can proceed. In order for me to do so, can you share the old site URL, the old wp-admin path you had in use, or details of your site prior to the update?

Note that any check and update of your current site URLs on the Site Kit service should address the “site with the given URL already exists” issue. The other we can investigate further. We do have a guide on the plugin website for this and it doesn’t require any check on the Site Kit service.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. Thank you.

    Hi,
My website as been fully redesign. We have worked on a pre-proad website. The preproad as been erase when we go live. So there is no trace.

But, we have also had two clone of our website before :

    1/https://www.dev.fillercosme.com

    Access path : /home/maan2866/public_html/developpement

    This one is already deleted

    2/https://www.fillercosme.com/refonte

    Access path : /home/maan2866/public_html/refonte

This one is still active. If it is the source of the problem we can see to delete it.

I am waiting for your returns.

    Thanks in advance, Adrien

Many thanks for the update @madonna23. I’ve requested a check of your site on the Site Kit service now. Hopefully I’ll have an update over the next couple of working days. Unfortunately I don’t have any other workaround at present, given that switching to a www prefix version of your site didn’t address the issue.

      Access path : /home/maan2866/public_html/refonte

This one is still active. If it is the source of the problem we can see to delete it.

I don’t see any site active at this location (fillercosme.com/refonte). Regardless, if you cloned your current site from this site, you would need to reset Site Kit on this origin site first, before then setting up on the final site (where you’re encountering issues).

I’ll let you know as soon as I have an update. Thank you.

Thanks for your patience on this @madonna23, and apologies for the delay. Can you attempt Site Kit setup once more and let me know how you get on? We invalidated the existing site records so hopefully you’ll be able to proceed.

Glad to hear it @madonna23. Appreciate the update. If you have a moment free please also consider leaving a review after testing out the dashboard, or if you’ve been a Site Kit user for some time. We’d love to hear your feedback.
