# problem activating new themes

 * Every time I install a theme that is not a wordpress theme, I get an error message
   saying that “The active theme is broken. Reverting to the default theme.” can
   i only use word press themes? please help!

 * Yes, you can only use WordPress theme, of which there are several thousand to
   choose from:
 * [http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/](http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/)
 * However, if you really wanted to get creative, you could [integrate WordPress with an existing design](http://codex.wordpress.org/Integrating_WordPress_with_Your_Website)
   or [build your own theme](http://codex.wordpress.org/Blog_Design_and_Layout).
