[resolved] Private WordPress site with unique username/password for each visitor? (3 posts)

    Hello all,

My Client wants to be able to upload under 100 pdfs to a couple of different pages themselves and they know and love the WP interface. The problem is that they want the site to be PRIVATE, and for each user to have a unique username and password that let's them see the front page, NOT the dashboard. Is there any way to achieve this with a plugin or a tutorial for modifying/adding functions in functions.php? Is there any way to deny users of one of the lower roles to not gain access to the Dashboard? I'm comin' up empty. All PRIVATE WP site plugins allow those that are logged in to access the Dashboard and this is a non-starter with the client. They just want a private WP site that requires unique usernames/passwords. Sadly, wordpress.com sites offer this functionality I believe but I can't have any advertising show up on this site for this client. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  2. Would a plugin like membership be of any use?

That looks like it could possibly do very nicely. Funny, I googled for 2 hours and did not come across this particular plugin. Thanks for your response and information Christine. Much appreciated! -c-
