When I was setting up a test blog in the network to test the multi blog feature, I marked ‘No’ for the ‘Public’ option for the test blog.
Yet the test blog still loads like it’s public, even when I’m not logged in… so what does the ‘Public’ option mean?

Is there a way to make a blog private, not just a post at a time, but an entire blog private in 3.0?

I figure there’s folks like me who would like to have a private one along with our public ones.

  • The privacy setting is for search engines. If you set it to private, your site will not be indexed by Google and other search engines, but people can still visit your site.

To make your site private so that only logged in users can visit it, you need to use a plugin. I like the Members plugin, which has lots of handy features. For your needs, you just need to activate the “Private Blog” component.
