@hangout0988 Could you please tell me specifically which images you’re referring to? We do not store any assets on our servers that get loaded on your site. That is strictly against the WordPress.org policies.

The only tracking we ever do of Easy Digital Downloads users is through the optional opt-in data tracking, and even when that is opted-into, it sends nothing but the site URL and the active plugins and theme. And again, that is opt in only.

We simply do not track any IP addresses or other data through the usage of our plugin unless you have given us explicit permission to do so.

To clear up confusion, could you please show me an example?

@mordauk, (assuming this is the same person with the same inquiry from elsewhere on the innerweb’s vast forum of Groups) Apparently this person’s message is that b/c images from edd’s site are showing up on the Addons page from his installation wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=download&page=edd-addons, then you are tracking him

@brad That is the final conclusion we came to. It’s a standard RSS feed for the latest add-ons. No information is collected. Technically there can be IP addresses and referring domains recorded in access logs but that is no different than the access logs recorded by every single website on every single web server.

    word.
That’s kinda what I tried to mention as well, but… Perhaps hearing from you will hopefully help give him a bit more ….validity in the explanation.

    🙂

Your first reply completely contradicts your second reply which is just a poor justification. Your image tracking is more invasive then your opt in tracking. Saying no information is collected just ip is non sense.

Every single RSS feed is technically storing access logs of IP addresses, including the one in WordPress core for the news widget on the WordPress Dashboard. Access logs of RSS feeds are no different than access logs that are used on every single website and web server in existence.

To claim an RSS feed is invasive or abusive in any way is extremely over the top and nonsensical.
