[Resolved] Privacy concern – Site owner can read private docs?

Hi – wonderful plugin, but I do have a concern. Using my admin account I found I was able to read and edit the private doc of a test user account. Is this by design?

This troubles me, as I am creating a creative workspace, and I don’t want there to be any concerns about potential theft of intellectual property.

    Thanks!

Yup, this is by design. Admin accounts are able to do anything. This is basically how all of WP works: administrators can read all content, even that which is marked private.

It might be possible to extend BP Docs in some way to make private content that is *not* viewable by admins, but this is probably not something I’d want to include in the plugin itself, because for most people it’s a feature and not a bug that admins are able to moderate and view all content.

Okay, thanks, I’ll just have to warn people. (I guess I can include BuddyDrive as an option if they’re really worried about Admins being able to read their stuff. Just did a test and users can hide their drive contents from admins, at least through the ui.)

What about a password protect option? Admin would still have to enter that, right?

(Edit: Hm, no, I guess not… Oh well, warning it is. 🙂 )
