@skunkin If you update to the most current version of Yoast SEO version 14.0.4, does this resolve the issue? You can learn more about updating here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/
unfortunately 14.0.4 still did not resolve this issue
@devnihil also confirming, upgrading to 14.0.4 from 13.5 broke breadcrumbs respecting the primary category on my product pages. I am going to roll back to 13.5 until another update comes out.

to be sure: primary is not about the parent category, but about the preferred sub(child)category you choose to appear in the product’s breadcrumb (in case the product is covered by more than one child category)
