Hi Craig, are you able to replicate the preview issue using another theme or does it only happen on TwentyFourteen. If you are able to replicate on another theme, it may be related to the particular article itself and not the theme.
Do you have a sample article URL that you see the issue happen on? Additionally, are you just using the Insert/Edit link feature in the Classic Editor to trigger the issue or using some other method so that I can try to replicate as well?
Thanks
I’ll find an article and send it. Here is a post which I added a couple of internal and external urls using CTRL V into Visual editor of Classic. The previews worked though one of the externals apparently the text codes were not readable.

I’ll respond back next time I see it “not work”
Thanks
Ok. I did post today. Quick writeup touchscreen treatments. At then end I copied some urls and CTL V them into the post. First couple previewed fine, but some don’t. I am guessing it the pages that did might be from WordPress and have a recognized schema. Maybe the ones that didn’t are handcoded or something else.

Here is that section of code from classic editor

Oleophobic Coating

An oleophobic coating is an oil repellent coating. This means that it does not allow oil to absorb. A common oleophobic substance is water, but this quality can be produced on other materials with the help of treatment processes. The most useful aspect of oleophobic coatings are that they can make materials fingerprint-resistant because they repel the oils that are produced by the skin.

Yep, your last statement is correct in that the sites that don’t show the preview don’t have support for oEmbed:
https://oembed.com/
I wonder why the ones that do, show up in the edited post with the graphic and more. See https://kioskindustry.org/touchscreen-surface-treatments/ as I included screen cap below. First Ihave heard of oembed.com but that makes sense.
Here I posted that url onto another site of mine. It uses Iconic Pro theme. In it the url shows fully previewed. Article on touchscreen treatments

It just seems inconsistent at this point and I cannot count on it. Looking at my original article post now I see the preview showing up when it didn’t before. No explanation.
