Trying to get the embedded preview to work. I’ve read through all the forums and checked the .htaccess file in the mdocs folder (is correct), permissions on mdocs folder are world readable, i don’t have an furl(open) restriction or anything like that set to my knowledge. I’ve tried it with my browser both logged into my google account and logged out with no difference.

    – when clicking on the preview icon you get a blank page (no message)
    – when clicking on the preview tab it is blank (no message)

    – when I found the URL being sent to google viewer and try to connect to it with my browser, it returns a 500 error from google

    – when i paste the document portion of the same URL into my browser window (minus the google part at the beginning)… it begins to properly download and view the PDF

Any suggestions on what I should try next? Stumped.

Document page (for now) is at http://www.syccolumbus.org/resources-for-parents/documents-test/

Thanks! Great plugin so far.. shows promise!

It’s working with the latest fix. Thanks for all your attention to this! Hopefully it helps others as well.

I’d like to request the option to to have a settings checkbox to create the .htaccess file if checked (or at least if you delete the content of the box in settings it doesn’t create a zero byte file like now, but removes it). Something like ‘check this box to prevent the files from being publicly readable outside of MDocs’.

For some reason, ** and it could be an issue with my host provider or other environment settings**, if ANY .htaccess file is in the mdocs folder, the files inside aren’t ‘publicly’ readable to others (404 error) (or other plugins which is why the GDE plugin fails). I’ve tried every manner of options and directives with no luck. Not even Allow All works. Deleting the .htaccess and everything is publicly available again.

Right now I’ve got the mdocs-settings.php file modified to create .htaccess but with a different name. So it works for me, but if I update mdocs I’ll have to remember to change it again.

Finally… and thanks for bearing with me… there still is a big difference in how long it takes the preview to come up in the full window (mag glass) of sometimes 15-20 seconds.. but with the ‘preview tab’ its pretty much instant as soon as you click the preview tab. Can’t imagine what would be different there and it doesn’t really bother me much except it didn’t make sense. 😉

I will add that feature to the next release so stay tuned.

I will also look into why the loading time is being delayed.

Thanks for all the reports I really helps working out all the bugs!!

    Cheers
