Preventing the index.php from updating

  • So I have a very custom WP theme on my sandtrooper website. Everything works great, but how I have the theme set up there is a custom index.php file in the root directory to call out and use the Flash elements.

Because of this, every time I update the WP back-end, that index.php gets overwritten.

That’s fine for all the times I remember to replace it again with my custom theme… but there have been some weeks on end where I totally forget and my site is the old boring default WP theme.

Is there a way / does anyone know how to keep the root index.php from updating when you run the automatic update on the back-end?

    Thanks!
