# Preventing Pasting HTML

* I know if you turn off the Rich Text Editor code will not be pasted into the
editor. However, then we would need to enable quick tags which are less than
ideal.
* Is there a way to use the rich text editor, but prevent people from pasting in
HTML? Users do not understand the formatting and paste in all sorts of coding
that messes things up.

* We’re really sorry, but there is no option to prevent pasting HTML in Rich editor.
You should either choose the textarea or do the customizations yourself using
the [preprocess_comment](https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/hooks/preprocess_comment/)
hook.
