    Is there any way to prevent users altering the date given to a post when submitted? I’m using WordPress with students and need to have a system in which posts are dated genuinely. At the moment they can change the date of the post on the right of the page on which they compose.

  • I’ve tried taking out the edit timestamp function from admin-functions.php but it didn’t work (I’m guessing I shouldn’t have edited that file!)

    There must be a way of removing the edit timestamp feature… anyone got any ideas?

    I removed the lines:

    <?php if ( current_user_can('edit_posts') ) : ?>
    <fieldset class="dbx-box">
    <h3 class="dbx-handle"><?php _e('Post Timestamp'); ?>:</h3>
    <div class="dbx-content"><?php touch_time(($action == 'edit')); ?></div>
    <?php endif; ?>

    from edit-form-advanced.php in /wp-admin and it seems to have worked – the edit timestamp feature is gone.
