Since the lastest update of your plugin, everytime i press “make a new post” I get redirected to this site: admin.php?page=pretty-link-update

THIS IS RUINING MY BLOG SINCE I CANT MAKE NEW POSTS. WTF?!

I even deactivated your plugin, cleaned cache but it still redirects to admin.php?page=pretty-link-update. What did you do and how can I fix this?? I need to write posts NOW!!!

If the plugin is deactivated and you’re still being redirected, it sounds like a caching problem. You can try clearing your browser and website caches and see if that helps.

Same here! Anything I do, it goes to the changelog/new update page. Very annoying.

    I cleared cookies already.

Here’s what I wrote to you @cartpauj on Messenger as it’s an urgent bug to fix.

Hi, I’m sorry for reaching you here about Pretty Links but this latest update really ruined the way my website loads pages. Every few pages I load in my website now goes to your changelog page to tell us Pretty Links’ latest changes. It’s incredibly frustrating and I can’t use my website.
Example: I receive an email to check a comment in WordPress, I click it, and it goes to your changelog page.

I click on pages > add new to create a new page, it goes to your changelog page. Etc.

Hope you can resolve this today.
This is one of those plugins that we can’t really deactivate ’til an update shows up :(.

If you’re using the Chrome browser, some were able to clear redirect caching in Chrome by visiting chrome://settings/clearBrowserData in their address bar and from there only clearing “cached images and files”. I’m not sure how far back you’d have to go, maybe before this started happening.

I’m using Firefox. I fully cleared cache now, loaded my site example.com/wp-admin/ and it went to: /wp-admin/admin.php?page=pretty-link-update

    This is clearly a bug..

@contrid I’m not able to reproduce this yet. If you do it in an incognito window do you still get the redirect? Do you know if your webhost does any Varnish or other caching on its end?

I run a dedicated server. It doesn’t have Varnish. We have Zend OPcache v7.3

It seems to want to load the changelog page every minute or so. I can use the site for a few page loads and then if I leave it without touching it and load another page, it will go to the changelog.

I suggest taking a look at what you’ve changed for the latest update and retrace your steps. I don’t understand why it would cause this but something did.

If you have access to edit the PHP code, try deleting lines #5-10: https://share.cspf.co/bLump2q5

    From this file: https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/pretty-link/tags/3.1.0/app/controllers/PrliOnboardingController.php#L5

Let me know if the redirect still happens afterwards.

Seems to solve it, but I compared your older version’s file from 4 months ago with this new one and both have the same lines 5-10. Strange that it causes an issue now. I wonder what you’ll do to resolve this since the next update will just bring this back.

Do you know what version of PHP your site is running?

Unfortunately, 5.6 as it is part of a main site that currently needs 5.6 until we update it. On its own, it should be able to run 7.3.

Okay, thanks. We’ll see what we can figure out before the next release.

Thanks so much for taking the time to troubleshoot this!
