Support » Plugin: Master Slider - Responsive Touch Slider » Pretty, but has massive problems

  • This is a pretty slideshow, but unfortunately has some showstopper bugs. Firstly, when you click the master slider button above the editor, it just shows a blank dropdown.

Second, and most importantly, when you look at sites with this plugin installed they are NOT responsive, they always load in the highest resolution. It should use the srcset attribute to let the browser pull in the appropriate size out of all the appropriate resized images, as WP has done for a few versions now by default.

Even when you look at the example demos, and inspect, you will see it is downloading the 1280×853, even though the display is 800x533px. If srcset were used properly, this plugin would actually be responsive and download the proper image for the browser’s screen resolution.

As it is, this plugin makes it very easy to cause massive network load for users of this slideshow. Unless they know how to compress images to relatively small size before uploading, as is done in your demo, they will likely hit their hosting bandwidth limit, not to mention annoy all users on DSL/3g connections with a lag loading the image!

  • Agreed, why doesn’t Master Slider use sourceset images? What’s so ‘master’ about that?!

WordPress 4.4 (with support for sourceset) was released in december 2015.
