  • agreed!
So unless this is just some kind of bug – I just don’t get why they’d do this. how is this different than the Quick Post plugin?

I thought the long “conversation” they were having regarding which quick posting interface was best might lead them to do this differently. overwhelmingly people said Tumblr… well what’s so great about tumblr, aside from automatically detecting media to insert, is that it copies images to the tumblr servers.

you know how much bandwidth gets sucked up by people hotlinking, when most of them don’t even know why its a problem? way to promote lazy and inconsiderate behavior guys.
and i don’t even want to hear it about htaccess- i already jump through plenty of hoops to work around twerps online like everyone else.
i’m talking about promoting decent behavior.

    dur, guys. seriously

As of 2.6.1 this is resolved.

nope noel.. seems it is not.. still hotlinking.. as i use it now n have try it.. the function upload it to the server but on the post side still hotlinking to the original image..

Can you provide a reference to a file which this is happening on?

i guess its on press-this.php. when use press-this with photo tab, and insert the selected image, the script running to upload the image from original site to localhost but it doesnt send the localhost file url to the visual editor. this is why the images hotlinking to the original file on author server..

i never good on scripting php so i cant provide more details on it.. so hope its help u see the problem..

p/s: i see it works well at wordpress.com, looking forward to see it work on download version..

I’ve tried to find a workaround based on some other forum posters, but can’t figure it out either. Does anyone have any ideas towards fixing this? I love the press this feature, but not if I’m going to be continuously hot linking everything I feature.

Has anyone had any luck figuring out a fix for this in 2.7.1? What I’ve been doing is starting the post from Press This, saving as a draft then redoing the image from the copy that’s been cross-loaded into the Media Gallery, but it’d be nice to just fix the issue that’s causing Press This to insert the original image link over the link to the Media Gallery copy.
