Are themes, backgrounds, widgets and blavatars importable?
I’ve just exported a blog from wordpress.com. I imported the file to a self-hosted site. The pages and posts all came through but most of the site architecture was lost. For example, the theme switched from ‘twenty ten’ to ‘twenty eleven’ during the export/import. It also defaulted to a blank background, header, site title and tagline. The widgets, blavatar and custom menu were not imported.
I’m not sure if these features were lost during export from wordpress.com or import to the self-hosted site. It sounds like plenty of people have migrated before me so I hope someone can give me insight on if it is possible to preserve the old architecture and how to get it done.
