So after I installed wordpress, I found that after putting in a new post, I would end up with a blank page on post.php (it wouldn’t redirect). After doing some web searching, I found that someone else had an issue with .htaccess one directory higher.
So I removed all of the entries in my .htaccess file, and now it works fine. Strangely enough, it still chokes if I delete the .htaccess file. It also chokes if there is anything in the .htaccess file, even just a commented out line.
Should I file this as a bug?
