• I am using PodPress version 8.8.10.17
I am trying to set up a premium podcast on a premium feed. When i check the box for ‘Premium Feed’ it asks users for their username and password when they attempt to access the feed but regardless of what they enter for credentials it fails to authenticate and it prompts them for credentials again.

All the premium members have been added to the Premium Subscriber group. Once I check the ‘Premium feed’ box not even administrator credentials will allow you to access the feed.

Additionally I have the folder where the actual MP3 files located protected using wishlist member, which works fine, but without turning on the premium feed no credentials are asked for and users get failed download when they try to download the media file using podcatcher apps. (Everything works fine if they log into the site and click download, its only when trying to use the feed that everything fails)

Any update? I tried moving to powerpress but its even worse, it causes all of my media files to disappear from my feed because of Wishlist Member. Even the ones that are not protected by Wishlist Member.

I have made some test and reminded myself how it works:
    – you need users with capability premium_subscriber
    – if you create a new user, this user has to login at least once to the blog via the usual blog login
    – the admin does not have this capability automatically

If you want to allow existing users to follow the Premium Feed then you need to install a role and acapability management plugin and give those users the premium_subscriber capability.

I am having the same problems as well and I have followed the above steps to a tea
