I am in the process of building our web site, but I do not want to have it available via the domain yet as it is not ready.
The site is located in shared hosting, and I access it with modified HOSTS file in my computer referring to the hosting address.

I cannot make the preloading work, and I keep getting ERROR message because of wrong links.

    My questions:
    1. Is it because the domain is not set to my site’s hosting?
    2. Furthermore, can such error message of preload be caused by disabled Cron jobs in my hosting service?

    may be.

no but you should disable preload if it does not work.
