Support » Plugin: WP Super Cache » Preload only caching 1/3 of posts

  • Resolved CB

I have a small dictionary website with a bit more than 1300 posts (each post is a dictionary entry). I set WP Supercache to preload all pages, and it appeared to be doing its job at first. But soon I noticed that cache files were not being created for many posts, when I checked via FTP.

For instance, in the first batch, the Preload section of WP Supercache said something like “preloading posts 1 to 100”, but it never passed the 58th post. Then it said it was preloading from 100 to 200, and so on, until it finished. When I got the email confirming it had finished preloading the cache, I checked the /wp-content/cache/supercache/my-domain/ folder, but only found 552 pages created. When I visit the Contents tab, it says there are too many pages to list, but says it has 8 cached pages on WP Cache, and 547 cached pages on Supercache.

I received no error message during the preload operation, and there were no php error logs.

So I wonder what could have gone wrong. Why only preloading 547 pages out of over 1300?

If nothing is showing in the php error log it’s difficult to diagnose. You could enable debugging in the plugin and see what happens there when preloading stops. Do you have email notification enabled for preloading?

If it doesn’t preload everything don’t worry about it. Your visitors will cause pages to be cached as normal any way.
