# Prefix

 * Hi everyone,
 * For security reasons I’ve changed my database prefix in the past. But I just 
   discovered that you can’t create a new multisite network when the prefix isn’t
   wp_. I noticed it when I wanted to create a new network. The screen stays blank.
   I tried the same thing with a clean wordpress installation that has a basic wp_
   prefix and there it worked just fine.
 * So my question is if it’s still possible to create a network with a different
   prefix.

 * I can’t vouch for every circumstance, host, etc. – but I always use custom prefixes
   and have never had a problem creating a multisite network. Just did it this afternoon,
   actually.
 * When you say “the screen stays blank” – what step in the process are you talking
   about?

 * Never mind Phil, I solved it by replace the wp installation with a new copy. 
   I thought the prefix was the problem but it were the files.
 * thanks anyway.
 * Btw I ment the screen where you can setup a new network. The page where you can
   decide if you want subdomains and so on.
