Support » Plugin: MapSVG Lite » Pre sales question

  • Hi
I had a couple of questions before purchasing this plugin. I would want to replace this current bitmap image map https://cfig.ca/gic-floor-plan/.
    1) Does your plugin slow down with the addition of several hundred hotspot areas on the WordPress backend?
    2) I tried your online demo with a SVG version of my floorplan. What needs to be added to the SVG to designate an “area” as a hotspot when it gets imported into your plugin?
    3) Can you update the SVG once it is built without affecting the hotspots?

    Many thanks
    Andrew

    Hi,

    1) There is pagination (default value is 30 items per page). Also, MapSVG uses custom MySQL tables with indexes (=fast) instead of storing data in default WP meta fields (=slow). So if your server isn’t already overloaded with tons of other plugins (which I see quite often on servers of my customers) – everything will be fast.

    2) Check this tutorial about custom SVG files:
    http://mapsvg.com/tutorials/create-interactive-map-from-svg-file/
    There are 3 main requirements:
    * Objects which you want to become “regions” should be of one of the following types: path / rectangle / ellipse / circle / polyline. Groups (<g></g> SVG tags) are not supported.
    * Object must have a color fill (transparent rgba(0,0,0,0) is OK)
    * Object must have an ID (if object is inside of a group <g></g> and ID is assigned to a group and not to object itself – that wouldn’t work)

Also it is very useful for floorplans which have a lot of graphical details to assign IDs to booths with some prefix, for example, use prefix “booth”: “booth_1”, “booth_2” – and then tell MapSVG that “Regions” list should be filled only with objects which start with that prefix (MapSVG > Settings > Region Prefix). That will allow you to filter out unnecessary objects with auto-generated IDs such as “path_123”, “polygon_234”.

    3) You can re-upload your SVG file into MapSVG with the same filename – the previous version will be overwritten – but if you have added new booths they won’t appear in “Regions” list. I’m going to fix the in the following version of MapSVG.

Let me know if you need anything else.

    Hi Roman
Thanks for the quick reply. I downloaded the lite version to test it out and it seems to be working alright. https://cfig.ca/svg-map-test/
    Questions:

    1) I have Popups and Tooltips turned on but they dont show up? Do I need to do something else or is that part of the paid version?
    2) When I imported the SVG it changed the font from Arial to Times New Roman, what setting do I need to turn on to insure it used the Arial font?

    Thanks
    Andrew
