• This is a pre-installation question. I have a VPS account running on CentOS, with Plesk and with 256 MB RAM. I would like to install WordPress to serve as a vehicle for sharing pictures (potentially large, accompanied by texts), within a community of about 350 people that has, say, about 30 active posters. It is hard to estimate the size of the potential audience, but it would be a publicly accessible blog.

Is it possible to estimate whether 256 MB of RAM will be sufficient to run such a blog? Can you already tell from my description that it will be insufficient, or will it depend – and if so, on what factors?

    With many thanks in advance,

    Malgosia

  • It should. WordPress works fine on regular shared hosting accounts and many of them have high traffic as well. Have one site with 10k hits a day without issue.
