I have found that powerful words that have a diacritic are not recognized as such and thus are not included in the calculation of the SEO score.

As far as I have understood the operation of the analysis routine, the powerful word entered in the title are compared with a list of expressions (the link leads to the german version).

The expressions in this list have recognizably no diacritical marks. For example, the german expression “Ängstlich” is rewritten here as “Angstlich”. The diacritics were thus reduced to their basic non-diacritical forms.

From this it can be concluded that each presumed power word entered
would also have to be stripped of its diacritical marks in order to be matched against the list.

If I am correct in my assumption, something will probably go wrong at this step in the process: This is because only powerful words that do not have diacritics are recognized as such. Powerful words with diacritics, which have a counterpart in the list of powerful words – but with converted diacritics – and therefore should actually be found, will not.

Likewise, all attempts to add terms with diacritics via rank_math/metabox/power_words filter (like this or this) come to nothing. They are simply not recognized.

It can be assumed that the problem does not refer to the German language alone. According to this, this analysis point would not be available or only insufficiently available in all languages affected by diacritics and currently supported by Rank Math (German, Swedish, Dutch).

    Hello @mdibella,

    Thank you for contacting support.

The current list of power words is not translating the words to the correct format. For example, the letter “Ä” should be translated to “AE” to follow the same conventions we use for our other tests and the moment is only translated to “A”.

We’ll be updating the list to have the correct variations in the future and we’ll update you on the same.

    Thank you for the feedback.
