Support » Theme: ButterBelly » Posts VS Pages

Hey I am new to wordpress and needed some help with setting up a blog. I have edited the front-page.php, by removing the blog section at the bottom (just above the footer-sidebar area), and put my own login there. What I am looking to do is to create a second page that will display my blog posts. I have tried several ways to do this but to no avail.

The main thing I tried was to create a page “Activity”. I went into Settings > Reading to set the Front-page displays, and tried to set the static page to the default page of the theme and the posts page to “Activity”. However, in the drop-down menu for the Front page, I can only find the “Activity” page, so there is no way for me to set the Front-page display to the theme default.

After some online searches, I found that this attribute can also be set in the Page Attributes section when creating the page. Ideally, there are 3 sections, Parent, Template and Order. I should have had been able to set the default template there, but the option is not available to me to begin with.

I am trying to set up a Page of blog posts. How can I do it in this theme without changing the default page? I am using the free version of the theme.

  • i figured out what I’m really trying to ask. I found this online:

WordPress comes with built-in support for creating a custom home page (static front page), and a separate page for blog posts.

I’m trying to createa default home page (static), and separate page for blog posts.

I managed to fix the problem.

Would you please mark this problem as resolved – thanks
