Posts views not registering on live server but do on testing/staging environment

    Hi,

    I have taken over maintenance on two websites (one link supplied with this ticket) which both use this plugin. I have however been left with an issue where the plugin does not register post views on the live servers. It does however work perfectly fine in the staging environment we us to do testing before going live with updates.

    We have updated plugins and WordPress framework to the latest versions on various occasions now but it has not solved the issue. I’ve also read many posts on on the forum with similar issues but none of the proposed solutions helped.

    We’ve checked the settings comparing live versions to staging versions and the only differences is that the live is using https. I have a suspicion that this could be the course of the issue. Is that a possibility?

    Hi @rlrcscpt,

    Thanks for the detailed report!

    I had a look at your site and the problem is actually something else. It seems the site was running a very old version of the plugin and when you guys updated the plugin to the latest version something went wrong and WPP couldn’t update the structure of its database tables. If you check your error log you’ll notice this message:

    WordPress database error: Unknown column view_datetime in field list (…)

    Try running these queries via phpMyAdmin (remember to change the table prefix to the one your site uses!) and let me know how it goes.

    Hi Hector,

    Thanks for the assistance with regards to this.

    The update got the plugin working again, however the working plugin manifested another issue on the server. I will open a separate ticket for this.
