• Resolved Sandys POV

    (@sandys-pov)

I’m having issues with the most recent Yoast update. Clicking on a menu category on my website (SandysPOV.net) yields no posts, when it has worked in the past. I’m showing 10 404 errors and 32 “not found” errors in the Yoast SEO search console.

Has anyone had this issue before and what can I do to fix it? If it can’t be resolved soon, I’m going to have to delete Yoast and find something new. Thanks!

  • a) good to keep back of prior versions of plugin so you can roll-back if new version not compatible with your site/theme/plugins

    b) you can try
    –1 clearing caches/cdn if applicable
    –2 resave permalinks
–3 turn Yoast off (deactivate); then reactivate
–4 delete plugin folder via FTP; upload new version via FTP to ensure properly installed
–5 do you have enough memory allocated to WP in your wp-config.php file? default is 40M, but should be set as 96M for best results these days.

    Good luck!

Thank you for your reply. Here’s what I did after doing deactivating and reactivation Yoast and JetPack – Ultimately what fixed it was reverting back to Yoast SEO’s default settings. Dashboard-General-Restore Default Settings. I’m back in business.

What I’ve discovered is that I can go to my categories, but it just brings up all of my posts and not my posts under that specific category. It’s working, but it’s not fixed.

Here’s what I found: WP Hide Post is the plug-in causing this issue. I deactivated it and I can search by category and get results again. Since I ended up not needing this plug-in, out it goes!

As is often the case, it’s not the Yoast plugin causing issues with somebody’s website but one of the other plugins being used not being compatible with latest version of WP.

    Glad you got it sorted.

Always good to try deactivaing plugins FIRST in future 😉
