Posts Per Page – Reading Settings

  • Hi,

Does anyone know what happens behind the scenes when one changes the number of posts displayed on a page via the admin panel (Reading Settings)? How does WP calculate the $max_num_page value (for pagination links) based on the $posts_per_page value? Which WP template(s) or core files are involved in this calculation process? I’d like to understand the logic WP uses to calculate the $max_num_page value. Thanks.

  • I am unable to make any changes to Reading Settings. I change # of posts per page or any other setting, but when I save changes I get a screen with Explorer cannot display this page – the message one gets when one does not have the authority to make changes.

I don’t have this problem anywhere else in the application and I had it before I upgraded to the new WordPress and still have it now.

    Does anyone know why?
