Posts on homepage

I currently have my site set to display the most current post on the homepage. Nothing else except a link to the older posts (as it’s a quote a day site).

The problem is that when I click the “older posts” link, the next post text is laid over the homepage instead of being taken to the actual post page (that has a completely different background on it).

Is there any way that I can set that link so that it will take the person to the last post’s proper page?
