• Hi
Please could someone help a newbie to wordpress.org!

I have set up my BLOG page, and have written and published a blogpost, but it doesn’t show up on my blog page. When I preview it, it has been published somewhere on my website, but I have no idea where it has been published to.

I am very new to WordPress, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. You’re going to have to do a ‘Dummies Guide to Fixing it’ with me, because I am not very tech savvy.

Thanks to anyone that can help me.

  • Hi there,

Try creating a page called Blog, then go to Admin > Settings > Reading > set Posts page to “Blog”. You can then add the Blog page (just a place holder really) to your nav menu. This is how the theme author seems to have done it.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Jenny
I have done that and it’s still not working. It is set to reading and it’s on my primary nav menu – but my blog posts aren’t there…

Argh!!! This is driving me mad 🙁

Hmmm, that’s weird. Have you tried contacting the theme author? I’d need to see the theme files to help more. You can send me an email if you want :

Thanks Jenny. What do you mean by the theme files? I can email them over to you.

Might be better to paste relevant code at somewhere like pastebin.com and then copy the link in here. That way, the conversation is kept in the forum and not taken elsewhere.

Ok, not sure what coding you want pasted though… :/

So, the theme is what gives your WordPress installation it’s particular look/setup. It found in wp-content/themes, and is comprised of everything contained in folder called “pilot-fish” (the name of your theme).

The theme author is listed as Daniel – did he set the site up for you? If not, how did you set your site up?

    Hi
I set the site up, I used a guide a friend gave me, but it didn’t have anything in it about adding a blog page. I have looked in the PilotFish discussion forum for help, and there was a girl who had the dame problem as me (I think). She has resolved her problem by changing her ‘Page Atrribute’ Template to ‘Blog’ rather than ‘Default Tenplate’. I did that too, but no luck.

Like I said, I still have these posts I have written but they are not displayed on my blog page. It’s so weird…

    Thanks
