• My site is not sending email notifications to my subscribers.
It does send emails out correctly to the admin when new users subscribe and for password changes, so email seems to be working correctly.

I added the WP-Mail-SMTP and its test function sends an email out correctly to my subscribers.

I added Subscribe2 and its test function sends out emails correctly also.
I also added email log plugin and it logs an email being sent in every case above except when I post.

Any ideas how to track this down. I took this site over from another admin and suspect the previous admin might have disabled it somehow. I disabled all plugins to make sure a plugin was not causing this behavior and no luck.

Where in the wordpress code is the post notification email sent out so I can see if the previous admin might have disabled it there? (I am a programmer and can sort this out with a hint of where to start)
Also any other ideas would be helpful.

Is this feature builtin in your theme? yes? Which theme?

Or, are you using a plugin for it? Yes? Which plugin?

    good thought.

I don’t think it is built into my theme. Esplanade.

I am not using a plugin for sending. I have tried Subscribe2 and it will not send with it either. The test function of Subscribe2 does cause an email to be sent, but not when I post.

this does work, but now all my subscribers have to go back to the site and subscribe. It seems this works around the problem by my blog sending a post notification to wordpress.com, then wordpress.com sends the actual email out.

I would like to get it to work where users can become a subscriber to the blog by creating a user name directly from the blog and my blog sending the email out. I am using the same theme on another blog and it works fine.

    Ideas?

I would like to get it to work where users can become a subscriber to the blog by creating a user name directly from the blog and my blog sending the email out.

There are no other real options. This is how Jetpack (the most popular email notification plugin) works.

I want the option my other blogs use and I think it built in to WordPress. Namely when you make a post the users that are subscribers receive an email. That does not seem to work.

Have you had chance to check out the plugin esmi recommended you in her replies”

I did check it out. I think I mentioned it in a post above. It does work, but not like the post to email feature wordpress has built in. Also, with the built in feature I can use the subscribe2 plugin to manage the email list. Jetpack does not allow me to manage the list.

Any thoughts on ways to get the built-in functionality working and not use a workaround?

    Thanks
