This also seems to affect the ability to access/edit media files as well. While the user can still upload new media and edit their own, they can’t see or edit other user’s media even though they have all of the following media related capabilities assigned to their role:
delete_attachments
delete_others_attachments
delete_private_attachments
delete_published_attachments
edit_attachments
edit_others_attachments
edit_private_attachments
edit_published_attachments
publish_attachments
read_private_attachments
any updates or solutions yet?
I also want to restrict user roles to only let an author edit posts, but not projects or events. And this doesn’t work at all for me….
Note that there’s a known issues with granting users the ability to edit only specific types of posts and still specific feature images. Without the edit_posts capability, users can’t edit feature images. But that capability allows them to edit any type of post. Just mentioning this because it’s one of the obstacles we have in addition to the one above in separating capabilities and content editor roles.
Okay – but will this be changed in the future? As this was the only reason I installed the plugin as I want an Author just to be able to edit/write posts with pictures but not to e.g. edit or create new events.
Or did I get anything wrong?

Sorry I might have missed something – but does this just say it is not possible to make it work as it would require core changes from WordPress?
What is the point of the plugin if you can’t change it the way the options seem to offer?
You might try this out again. Looks like CORE might have been updated to address this. Can anyone else confirm if this fixed the issue for you?
