Posts don’t open in a new tab

I use elements pro. Post widgets. They have the function of opening in a new tab. Recently, this function has stopped working and posts are opened in the current tab. I disabled all plugins and found out that this happens when I turn on Rank Math. What could be the problem?

Please ensure that you are using the latest version of Rank Math plugin. If not yet, please do update them. You may refer to our changelog page here: https://rankmath.com/changelog/

Also, can you head over to your WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Links and try toggling the option “Open External Links in New Tab/Window? https://i.rankmath.com/i/YFsYCs is if that will improve the situation.

Hello @ferromaximum,

We use Elementor’s Posts widgets on our end and the option to open links in a new tab is working fine even when Rank Math is enabled.

Can you please share some screenshots of the settings of the widget you are using so we can check and try to replicate the issue on our end? You can use a tool like https://imgur.com/ to share the screenshots.

We checked again and it is working fine on our end. Please check this screencast: https://i.rankmath.com/v/cEbiAL

If the issue still persists on your end, then please check with only Rank Math, Elementor, and a default theme. If it works fine, then there must be some other plugin that is causing the conflict.

Now do the same, just disable “Read More” in the widget. And you will see that the entry will not open in a new tab as long as the Rank Math plugin is running.

Please check with only Elementor, Default theme, and Rank Math. If the issue persists, please navigate to WP Dashboard > Rank Math SEO > Status & Tools > System Status > Copy System Info to Clipboard and share it here.
