Posts display on alternative pages depending on category

  • Hello guys would appreciate some help…
I am currently developing a website for an events management company.
I am looking for a way for certain posts to display on certain pages ie

All posts about bands or artists would display on the ‘artist page’
And all posts about recent/upcoming events would display on the ‘events’ page.
But i need all posts to display on the homepage

So i really need to know how to set up multiple post pages depending on category
im guessing it would involve editing with the category system already built into wordpress.
I would prefer a plugin already developed but i cant seem to track one down. Please any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂

  • If I understand you correctly, you want to have Pages set up for Artists and Events on which the posts in those categories will show up. If you set your blog up with the “front page displays” (Settings -> Reading) set to “your latest posts,” you’ll have all your posts on the home page.

I think you can accomplish what you want by setting up the Artists and Events catgories, assigning the appropriate posts to them, then using something like the List Category Posts plug-in to add a shortcode to the corresponding pages to list your posts.

I notice that the plug-in works for 13 of 14 people who have tried it in WordPress 3.4.2, so you’ll have to test it.
