    Hi,

this Plugin is exactly what i´m looking for: it lists content of certain categories on a page. It list the content perfectly in a list…

But is it not possible instead of that list to show a preview of the contents?
I mean the same when i open the classic blog, i can see a preview (e.g. Head, some text lines, a picture etc.).
Here i have just the name of the content as a link, where you have to klick on it to see the content?!

    Thanks for help

Have you read the plugin’s documentation? There is information on excerpt which is exactly what you are after.

    Cheers

    Hi,

thanks for the super fast reply 😉

Yes, i read it (more than one time), but somehow missed it.
But thanks to your hint i got it.
Yes, “excerpt” it´s exactly what i was looking for..

But, the excerpt looks quite “basic”. Just some text, no pictures, no special formatting etc. in the preview.
I mean if you compare it with WordPress itself, how there are excerpting blogs. Hope you know what i mean?

Don´t understand why this whole function is not a standard wordpress function… however.

If you just use excerpt=yes this is what you get, but there are other options described in the docs, excerpt=full, excerpt_strip=no or even content=yes and content=full. Read more about them in the docs and expertiment.

I assume you are referring to a blog page in WordPress. Remember that there is no such thing as a standard WordPress function when it comes to display – it is all governed by themes. If you see a specific blog page that you like everything you see has been coded in a theme, themes contain templates for these “previews” as you call them. The LCP plugin is template-agnostic, let’say, it is designed to work with any theme, it grabs the post data as is and bypasses any theme templates and allows users to format the list however they like with custom templates.

If you really like the excerpts your theme displays and are familiar a bit with html you can recreate that theme’s excerpt template in your custom LCP template.
